Welcome, friends! The therapists are in!

We are the Paleo Therapists: Rachel Freeman, LCSW, NTC and Kristy Malone, MFT, NTP. We use a combined ancestral health and evolutionary psychology perspective towards physical health and mental wellbeing. Our approach to wellness focuses on reconciling the incongruence between the diet and lifestyle we are genetically programmed to live with the reality of our modern world.

Humans today eat a diet and live a lifestyle that is dramatically different from that which we are biologically wired for. We have become disconnected from ourselves because of conflicting messages about food, about our bodies, and we are managing more daily stressors than ever before in human history. 200 years ago we didn't eat processed foods; we ate real whole foods, and food was inherently organic. 30 years ago we didn't have GMOs in our food supply, or public access to the internet. 10 years ago we didn't have smartphones with immediate handheld access to email, social media, or breaking news. That's a LOT of change in a very short amount of time.

Considering the fact that our diets and lifestyles have evolved far more rapidly than our biology is capable of, it's no surprise that rates of chronic illness, mental illness, and emotional imbalances like anxiety and depression continue to become more prevalent. Our mission is to revolutionize the way we approach wellness by combining mental health with nutrition within an ancestral paradigm. We believe that mindset and the relationship with food should always be addressed before beginning any nutritional protocol, and that it just as important to nourish ourselves emotionally as it is to nourish ourselves physically.

Join our community as a participant in our groups, or as a practitioner incorporating our integrated philosophy and group format into your practice. Our goal is to get people reconnected with themselves by establishing positive self-talk, finding physical and emotional balance, and helping them access their own innate wisdom.

Thanks for stopping by!
